Sensor for the amount of rainfall

General description:

The measuring system is equipped with a tipping balance. 
At a certain quantity of liquid the balance overturns, 
one half of the balance empties, whereas the other half is filled.          
This procedure is repeated continously. 
The contents of the two balance halves is constant. 
The number of tippings is a measure for the amount of rainfall. 
A sieve bar protects the sensor from insects or similar soilings.
